Devotion

Jesus after concluding the parable, He put a question to the people that "when He returns will He really find faith on the earth"?. He did not give an answer to this question and also a couple of other questions too in the Bible (Matthew 16:26). It is evident from the question that when He comes, He will certainly look for faith. He isn't going to look for our possessions, buildings, bank balances, popularity or even our education and profession. During the course of  His earthly ministry, He always used stories, illustrations and asked questions while He spoke to the crowd. In fact, He never spoke to them without using parables. His teachings are simple yet profound. Most learned men found it difficult to understand His sayings. However, uneducated people were able to truly appreciate it. The reason appears to be simple; the uneducated people received Jesus sayings with childlike faith. Others applied their reasoning and logic, and their top ten inches (head) refusing to accept simple engrafted Word.

In these last days, Bible states that knowledge shall be increased (Daniel 12:4) and this will facilitate in the advancement of technology. However, this advancement had been a negative impact in receiving the Word of God. The world says “seeing is believing and believing is seeing”. In contrast, the Bible states “see not to understand that you may believe but believe that you may understand”. Further “to have mountain moving faith, submission to the God’s Word must be a Lifestyle”.

Dear ones at the end of the day, after all, our debating and learning, our searching through the Scriptures and going to the Bible colleges, Universities, Theological Seminars, and reading volumes of theological discourses, it is astounding to conclude that the Christian Faith is actually quite simple. However, we made it so difficult by putting many propositions to the Word of God.

Every country of the World has its own currency to buy goods and pay the bills. Similarly, faith is the currency of the New Testament Church and everything in this realm works through faith. Without faith, it is impossible to please our God because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who seek Him. The Word of God states in Roman 10:17 that” Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God”. It's very simple to listen to the Word of God and act upon it with childlike faith.

What God is saying is that He doesn’t want us to become childish, but to have childlike faith. When my daughter was young, if I had said to her that the moon was made of cheddar cheese, she would have gone and tell her science teacher, “My dad says that our moon is made of cheddar cheese”. If the science teacher had replied that Neil Armstrong had walked on the moon and that he said the moon is made of dust, my daughter would have responded "I don’t care what Neil Armstrong did or said, I'm telling you that my dad says that the moon is made of Cheddar Cheese, and that’s it.” That’s childlike faith. That’s how God wants you and me to be.

What's next?

Let us take Him at His Word, as it is written, and believe it, because “God is not a man that He should lie” (Numbers 23:19). God used Smith Wigglesworth in such a powerful way because of his childlike faith. His favorite saying was “God said it; I believe it, and that settles it”. Remember this always.
