Bible Meditation

[ecko_quote source="Romans 5:5"]The love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit which is given unto us[/ecko_quote]

Devotional Thought

Well, God showed me that the love He wants to come forth from us is not supposed to be human love. It’s the love He provides, the love He was talking about when He and His secretary put this in the Scripture. Since love was not being shed abroad in my heart, or in any of the rest of me, I began to suspect that the Holy Spirit was somehow missing in my life. I had run across other scriptures too, that indicated the same thing. One of them was a promise of Jesus in Book of Acts.

“But you shall receive power, after that the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you shall be witness unto me both Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth (1:8)

I did not see any power operating in my life, and I knew I was not being a witness in my backyard, much less in any of the faraway places the Scriptures talked about. God said if I was to have love, power and be a witness I need the Holy Spirit. Then I decided to check these things out by trying them. If they were for today, they would work.

If they were not, they wouldn’t. It was that simple. Any laboratory technician knows how to check the validity of a formula. He puts the ingredients together and looks at the results. The ingredients can be found in the scripture portion- “Repent and be baptised, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit”- Acts 2:38

And I did that with the Word of God, taking it literally, trying it, and watching what happened. When the Word working in my life, I could able to experience the love which has shed in my heart by the Holy Spirit. Before I received the baptism, just the thought of a certain man’s initial would set my mind motor racing. Afterwards, I wanted to hug his neck. That’s the radical change.

The baptism brought new power and an ability in me to witness (even in those countries where the Gospel is forbidden and countless times God protected me amazingly otherwise I would have been executed log back).

Action Point

Brothers and sisters, we are in the Acts chapters and our works/talks clearly written in real time. Therefore, please ask God if the love of God is not shed in your heart by the Holy Spirit, which is given unto us.
